A Denton man is locked up on a murder charge following yesterday's shooting on I-35 near McCormick Street.
Police say the 911 calls came in just before 2 p.m. with callers saying they witnessed a bloody assault as a man forced a woman into a car.
Police got there and found the woman in the car but the man was long gone. She was rushed to the hospital where she died from gunshot wounds.
Meanwhile, someone reported helping a man catch an Uber for Dallas. So, Denton police called ahead and had Dallas officers arrest Simeon Bonilla.
While hauling him back to Denton, police learned the victim had died so when they booked him into the Denton city jail it was on a murder charge.
