A man is locked up in Dallas because when he accidentally shot himself in the leg, his pistol was connected to a murder.
Last summer, a man was shot and killed in a homeless camp in Deep Ellum. The murder has gone unsolved for more than six months.
In January a man named Laquavana Ladarien Goode called for help, saying he'd shot himself in the knee in a Walmart parking lot in Lewisville.
While Goode was taken to the hospital, officers confiscated his pistol and ran routine tests on it. It turned out the gun was the same one used in the homeless man's killing.
Goode has now been booked into the Dallas County jail on a murder charge.
