A man is in the hospital after being shot during a confrontation with Dallas police overnight.

Reports say it began when officers witnessed a drug deal in the parking lot of a gas station. The officers tried to pull the suspect over, but he did not stop and police lost sight of his car.

A little while later they spotted the car back at the same gas station and noticed the man inside the store on Jupiter Road near 635-LBJ.

When the police tried to detain him, the man fought back and then pulled a gun. That's when the officers opened fire, wounding the man critically.

No officers were hurt. The Dallas PD's Office of Police Oversight and the Dallas County District Attorney's Office are investigating.
