The hunt is on for a man Dallas police say brutally beat someone with a gun, then shot him and left him for dead.
This happened around 11 p.m. on Tuesday outside a convenience store in the 7000 block of S. Great Trinity Forest Way.
Police say 58-year-old Hernaza Jenkins was leaving the store when he was attacked.
"An unknown black male suspect wearing all white and a white gator mask walked up behind the victim and began to pistol-whip him," said Officer Brian Martinez with the DPD. "Then he shot him in the chest."
Jenkins was rushed to the hospital, but he did not survive.
Right now, the motive behind the attack is still unclear. Police haven't said whether or not they believe Hernaza was targeted. He was walking with another person when he was attacked, and the witness escaped with no injuries.
Dallas Police are asking for anyone with information to come forward immediately.
