A McKinney man is going to prison for decades after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting and then trying to kill a young relative. James Hill also tried to take his own life.
Hill was caught sexually assaulting a teenage relative two times.
The first time he was arrested he posted bond to get out of jail. One of the conditions was Hill had to stay away from the girl.
He did not.
Another relative caught Hill molesting the same girl a second time. This time Hill fled, took the girl to his apartment where he attempted to commit a murder-suicide by using a lethal amount of drugs.
“(Police) got to the apartment just in time and they discovered that this defendant tried, not only to end his own life but to kill the child as well in order to not be held accountable for what he did. “ Carrie Thomas said, a Collin County Assistant District Attorney.
Responders were able to save both lives, although the victim was critical for some time.
Hill has pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to 50-years in prison. Thomas Hill could be eligible for parole in 25 years. “It’s a possibility. I think it’s very unlikely. He’s not in great health. He’s already in his mid-30s. The acts of this case were so egregious that I’m certainly hoping, and I have faith, that he’s never going to walk free again.” Thomas said.
