North Richland Hills police say they shot a man who pointed a gun at them.

It happened Sunday night outside a home on Keeter Drive after police got a call about possible shots fired there.

A woman called 911 from a home nearby and told dispatchers there was some sort of family disturbance going on. When officers got to the home the man was outside and pointed a semiautomatic handgun in their direction. Police say that's when they opened fire striking the man.

He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.  No word yet who the man is.

Police are not releasing any more information at this time and say this is still an active investigation.
