A federal task force fatally shot a man wanted for murder Monday morning in Oak Cliff, authorities say.

Corey Wayne Thomas was wanted for a shooting that happened in far southern Dallas last month, according to U.S. Marshals. The victim in that incident was found dead in a car on Mentor Street, in what investigators think was a drug deal that went bad.

The U.S. Marshal's Task Force was about to arrest Thomas for the Mentor Street murder when Monday's shooting took place.

Sources told KRLD News they did not think Thomas fired his gun at police. But because it was a federal task force, there is no body camera video. The U.S. Marshal's office says no officers were hurt.
