An Azle killer went to his own death in Huntsville Wednesday night.

Stephen Barbee was executed 17 years after he murdered his pregnant ex-girlfriend and her seven-year-old son.

In 2005, a Fort Worth woman named Lisa Underwood who was seven months pregnant, disappeared along with her seven year old son Jayden.

Days later, Barbee was arrested in Tyler. On the way back to Tarrant County, Barbee took detectives to a rural part of Denton County and showed them where mother and son were buried.

Barbee admitted he had strangled them both. He said he believed he was the father of Underwood's unborn baby. Before his trial, DNA tests proved that was not so.
