When you think of high-profile jobs, crossing guard may not come in the top 100. But Sherri Manning is the talk of the town in Mansfield.
Manning wrapped up 30 years as a crossing guard last week. She could have never imagined she'd love the job so much.
"Oh my gosh, I love it," Manning says. "They know my name. They know Miss Sherri!"
They know her. Because she knows them. Manning has been a crossing guard for so long she's seen kids go from toddlers who weren't even ready to go to school yet, to graduating from high school.
"I've crossed so many sibling sets. Those are the ones I hold the dearest to my heart," Manning says.

And as Manning hung up the safety vest last week, she had one wish for whomever steps into her role.
"I just hope that the next crossing guard can love your kid as much as I loved them."
