Every year, MedStar ambulance crews take a couple of kids out trick-or-treating. And this is a special thing, because these kids are medically fragile. Basically, they wouldn’t be able to go trick or treating at all without a medical crew on site to help.
Two kids have been chosen this year: Max and Noah.

"Noah is an 11-year-old little boy. He has Pallister-Killian Syndrome, a very significant illness, but we're pretty confident that we'll be able to safely take him trick-or-treating," says Matt Zavadsky, with MedStar. "We also have Max, who is a 12-year-old little boy with some significant heart ailments. With medical professionals taking them door-to-door to collect the candy, it's going to be a great time."
Zavadsky says everyone goes all out. The kids pick a costume and the ambulance crew dresses to match the theme. This year, Noah is going as a Marvel character. Max is going as Post Malone.
"The neighborhood is ready, they've got the houses designated for us and parking special for the ambulances," Zavadksy says. "It's going to be a great time."
He says twice as many kids were nominated for MedStar’s Trick or Treat event this year, and some hard choices had to be made.
"We are going to do it again next year, so keep those nominations handy," Zavadsky says. "We'll be looking for nominations … sooner than you think."
