Dallas (1080 KRLD) - Some Dallas Police officers enjoyed a holiday weekend breakfast and lunch, courtesy of Valerie Zamarripa, the mother of Officer Patrick Zamarripa who was one of the five police officers killed in a downtown Dallas ambush five years ago.

Friday, Mrs. Zamarripa brought a table-load of breakfast tacos, donuts and coffee to the same Southwest Division patrol headquarters where her son served. She said she understood how most officers never make time for breakfast but, for one day at least, she wanted to change that. She also stayed to fix hamburgers and hot dogs for the officers who work the late afternoon shift.

In response to the officers offering their thanks, Mrs. Zamarripa said simply: "Food warms the heart and that is what keeps family together."
