Grief is gripping the family of a Palestine teacher killed Sunday night by a wrong-way crash on I-45 in Wilmer.
Michael Coyne was killed when a wrong-way driver slammed into him as he was heading from Dallas where he and two students had attended the Dallas Mavericks NBA playoff game at American Airlines Center.
His mom, Deborah Coyne cannot fathom life without him and says her son was well known for always lifting people up.
The students riding with Coyne are cousins. He took them to the Mavs game to give them something to look forward to after the recent death of a closer relative. They are in the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Three others died in the crash, the wrong way driver and her two small children, ages one and four.
