A motorcycle rider who Lake Worth Police say was going the wrong way is killed in a crash early this morning.
It happened shortly before three this morning on the off-ramp from eastbound I-820 to westbound SH-199.
"The motorcycle rider was driving the wrong way -- so going eastbound on the westbound lanes of 199 -- before entering the cloverleaf," sasys Lake Worth Police Chief J.T. Manoushagian. "As he was coming around the cloverleaf, (he) was struck by the vehicle exiting the highway (going the right way)."
The motorcycle rider, who the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office has identified as Jerricho Greely, 29, of Haltom City, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chief Manoushagian says the investigation is ongoing.
"We have no reason to believe that alcohol or speed were factors, but we're going to look at all the angles," says Manoushagian.
The ramp was closed until shortly before 7:30 this morning, a span of around 4-1/2 hours.
"During that time, our crash investigators and reconstructionists were on scene to map that," Manoushagian says, "and then we had to wait for the medical examiner to get on scene and take us to the body."
