The Wise County Sheriff's Office was looking for Daniel Hernandez, 61, of Boyd, who they say shot Chad Vess, 41, of Paradise to death late Tuesday night during an argument inside Hernandez's sister's house west of Boyd.

Early Wednesday morning, police in Fort Worth found Hernandez and tried pulling him over. But Hernandez sped off and led officers on a chase.

Hernandez wrecked out along Business 287 at Glen Eden Dr. in southeast Fort Worth.

"The suspect exited his vehicle and began running on foot," says Fort Worth Ofc. Jimmy Pollozani, "and officers gave chase and took the suspect into custody."

As officers were making the arrest, Hernandez wasn't giving up easily.

"One officer received minor injuries while he was attempting to take the suspect into custody," says Pollozani. "The officer was struck in the face with a closed fist."

Hernandez is being charged in Wise County with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, while Fort Worth Police will be charging him with aggravated assault of a police officer and evading arrest.
