The Fort Worth City Council has approved a land-lease agreement for a new child care center in the Las Vegas Trail neighborhood.

The City of Fort Worth will be putting up the child development campus on Calmont Avenue, adjacent to the LVTRise Community Center. Councilman Michael Crain, whose district includes the Las Vegas Trail area, says it will be a key component in the revitalization of the area.

It's estimated that the facility will serve 100 children through the Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Construction of the eight-classroom facility is expected to begin late this summer and will take about a year and a half to complete.
