Kids across North Texas are getting ready to head back to school for the spring semester this week, and schools are making plans to try to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Both Dallas and Fort Worth ISDs return to class on Wednesday.

Fort Worth ISD is urging families to get kids vaccinated and consider stopping at a testing site in Tarrant County. Three sites have expanded hours to 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Testing sites at public health clinics run Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Dallas ISD says it'll keep its mask requirement in place at least through spring break, saying campus nurses will be available to test students and staff. A central testing location is open on Monday and Tuesday at the William H. Cotton service center on South Lamar.

Lancaster ISD will return to remote learning throughout this week.

Most other districts in the area say they're continuing with enhanced cleaning, urging masks, and following trends, but they're not changing protocols now.
