The rain that moved through North Texas appears to have helped slam the door shut on one of the more stubborn wildfires in the area.
The Chalk Mountain fire in Somervell County has now been out for three full days. County Judge Danny Chambers says after weeks of dry conditions and winds, there are no more flames.
We got about an inch or so yesterday evening in that area which helped us a lot. That was the first rain we'd had since I believe around the first part of June," Chambers said.
The damage will run in the 10's of millions of dollars. 17 homes burned to the ground another five were damaged. Chambers has no idea how many farm buildings were lost. Although there were a couple of heat-related injuries, there were no fatalities.
