Synagogues all over North Texas are taking precautions, following the hostage situation in Colleyville. Many have added extra security and in some cases, are going virtual.
Yehuda Remer is a firearms expert who has written several books on the matter and heads up an organization called The Pew Pew Jew. He offers firearm advice and training for those in the Jewish community who want to protect themselves.
"Any time there is an anti-Semitic attack, there is always an uptick in those interested in training and becoming accustomed to firearms," he says.
Remer understands the reluctance of some, but believes its important to understand the society we live in.
"You can try to pass all the laws you want, but hatred is going to happen. And people who are hell-bent on causing harm will do it, no matter the laws," Remer says. "Never again means nothing if you aren't willing to do something about it."
