ONCOR is already putting all hands on deck. The power provider has crews that are moving to staging areas in anticipation that the ice will cause power outages.

Ice gets on both the power lines and tree branches above power lines and it's expected there will be branches that bring down lines.

ONCOR is already staging repair crews across the metroplex. You will see them gathering at a large parking lot waiting for instructions of where the problem areas are.

ONCOR's Andy Morgan says it's still like playing 'whack-a-mole' as to where to expect problems.

"We have our own Meteorologists and try to predict where it's going to get hit the hardest, but that changes every hour, every minute" said Morgan. "Our crews just have to be ready to go, to wherever we need to be, to where the power is out."

Crew are staged at different intervals because they could travel for miles before getting to a town or area that needs lines restrung.

And the other thing to remember, downed lines can be a real danger. Never assume that power to the line is disconnected or has been turned off. If you see a power line down, keep children and any pets away and call 9-1-1 or ONCOR and report it.
