A controversy surrounding an outdoor marketplace in Fort Worth has contributed to an unrelated business owner closing up shop.

Back in early June, pop-up outdoor marketplace Roots Market disinvited a vendor because of her sexual orientation.

That company took a lot of heat -- and so did Roots Market and Juicery, through no fault of its own.

The brick-and-mortar store specializing in hard-pressed juices and plant-based meals had three locations, including two in Dallas.

People started leaving one-star reviews for the store, thinking that it was the same company as the outdoor marketplace.

Now, that company is going out of business.

Its last remaining store located on North Central Expressway, across the freeway from the KRLD studios, will be closing for good next Saturday.

KRLD reached out to Roots Market and Juicery owner Brent Rodgers and asked him whether his decision to shutter his 12-year-old business had anything to do with the controversy caused by the mistaken identity.

"Yes, it did have a huge part," Rodgers replied in an email to KRLD News.

KRLD also reached out to the people behind Roots Market, the Fort Worth outdoor marketplace, for comment -- and just like on the previous occasions, they have not replied to our emails.
