The Dallas police chief has fired one officer for using too much force while another one has been suspended.

Dallas Police officials say Officer Barron Cooper was terminated during a disciplinary hearing, for using unnecessary or inappropriate force against a citizen and profane language while interacting with a prisoner.

They claim the officer also failed to complete required reports and didn't notify a supervisor about an accident he got in while on-duty. Its not known if these violations occurred during the same incident. No further details were provided.

Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia also suspended a different officer, Aaron Cagle, for 20 days in connection with his arrest last year on charges of interference with public duties and public intoxication.

Both officers can appeal their disciplinary actions.
