A house fire in Dallas left one person dead and two others, including a firefighter, in the hospital. The fire was reported at 6:50 Wednesday morning in the 7900 block of Briaridge Road, near Belt Line and Coit in Far North Dallas.

"When we arrived, there was heavy, black smoke and fire coming from the house," Dallas Fire & Rescue's Jason Evans said. "We were receiving reports someone may still be inside, so firefighters mounted up, moved in for fire suppression and rescue operations."
Evans says a woman was found dead inside. A man who had escaped the house was taken to the hospital for burn injuries. He is expected to survive.
Evans says crews were able to extinguish the fire within an hour, but during the fight, a firefighter was trapped and made a mayday call.
"Thankfully, he was quickly accessed and rescued, but he suffered a little bit of smoke inhalation and has been taken to a hospital for observation," Evans said. "He is expected to be okay. His transport was more as a precaution than anything else."
The fire went to two alarms, and Evans says crews maintained their focus while dealing with outside complications.
"When you get different reports like someone possibly being inside and compound that with a mayday call with a firefighter being trapped, that makes it all the more important that you're able to suppress that adrenaline," Evans said.
Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire. The medical examiner will determine how the woman died.
