Texas is mobilizing an emergency response for later today. Not for the eclipse, but for the severe storms that could come after it.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced he's ordered the Department of Emergency Management to be ready for the severe storms that are expected to roll across parts of the state later this afternoon.
The state emergency operations center will shift into high gear, and state agencies from the Texas Forest Service to the National Guard will be ready to roll.

Severe storms are expected in much of Texas from Monday afternoon until Wednesday morning. The threat includes hail and possible tornadoes. All this, as thousands of visitors have poured into Texas for the eclipse.
Governor Abbott is urging everyone to stay aware of the changing weather conditions and to listen to state and local officials.
