Plano city officials hope they will be able to collect some money from Netflix and the other big video streaming services.
Plano is joining with Dallas and several other cities that are suing Hulu, Netflix, Disney Plus and other video streaming services over fees those cities say they are owned.
Traditional cable companies are required to pay franchise fees in the cities where they operate, but the streaming services have not been paying those fees.
The lawsuit claims they should since their video programs are carried on cables that run through the public right-of way.
