Plano Man used Bitcoin and US Postal Service to sell drugs

Federal authorities say a Plano man, who used the postal service to send thousands of pounds of drugs to users, has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison.

39 year old Aaron Brewer pleaded guilty to creating dark-web market vendor accounts to sell cocaine, heroin, and other substances to people in north Texas and throughout the country. He was usually paid in bitcoin, and used the US Postal Service and other shipping services to send the drugs.

Brewer was caught in operation DisrupTor, and he then admitted to dealing more than 4,000 grams of cocaine and more than 80 grams of black tar heroin over an 11-month period.

He used some of the proceeds to pay off a mortgage to a home in Plano, which he forfeited to the government as part of a plea.

According to the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Operation DisrupTor actions have resulted in the arrest of 179 Darknet drug traffickers and fraudulent criminals who engaged in tens of thousands of sales of illicit goods and services across the United States and Europe.

The operation also resulted in the seizure of over $6.5 million; approximately 500 kilograms of drugs worldwide (including approximately 275 kilograms of drugs in the U.S.); and 63 firearms.
