The city of Plano is gearing up for its Summer Internship Program, linking students from Plano ISD with eight-week paid internships.

Plano Mayor John Muns says this is a chance to experience the inner workings of top businesses in the area.
"Real learning experience as an intern," Muns said. "It's not just doing menial tasks. It's really getting involved in corporate planning sessions, or if it's in the medical field, watching surgeries and procedures that happen."
The program is underwritten by Captial One and offers remote and on-site placements, or a combination of both.
The internships run June 6-July 29, and students earn a minimum of $10 per hour working 20-40 hours per week.
Businesses can sign up to be part of the program through April 15, either by sponsoring an intern at their workplace, underwriting an intern at a nonprofit, or becoming a program sponsor.
