Police in Waxahachie are investigating after someone found a newborn infant Thursday morning.
Police report say the baby boy was wrapped in a t-shirt and had been left in some bushes outside the Bent Tree Town Homes along I-35E.
Officers were called to the scene just after 8:30am. The child was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waxahachie for evaluation and is in good condition. The boy is currently in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Investigators say they have identified the baby's mother and that she is a juvenile. The girl is not facing any charges at this time, but police are continuing their investigation. They're asking anyone with information about the case to contact Investigators Jill Turner or Elizabeth Glidewell by calling 469-309-4400 or by email at jturner@waxahachiepd.org.
