Probationary Dallas Police officer fired for killing cat in Pleasant Grove

Under suspension since the end of August, a Dallas police officer has now been fired for killing a cat while responding to a domestic disturbance in Pleasant Grove on August 21st.

Investigators say Officer Jesse Coates saw the cat "in distress" and killed it.

No more information about the nature of the distress has been released.

Coates was hired in January of 2020 and was still on a probationary status at the time.
