Denton County commissioners approve the purchase of more than $600,000 worth of new elections software and equipment - despite some concerns over section integrity.

"This system is not safe and it is not secure, it's wide open for changing our votes and adding votes," one member of the community said.

County commissioners tabled the vote last week. On Tuesday, the purchase was approved unanimously. County Judge Andy Eads says the county needs more equipment to make up for an increase in voting precincts, and that they’re taking extra measures to try to keep voting as secure as possible.

The money is going toward software and equipment from the election tech company Hart InterCivic.
