The Red Oak ISD held a special school board meeting Monday night to begin termination proceedings against Gershon Caston.
Caston had been hired by the district this spring and was scheduled to begin work as a coach in August. Caston was one of four people arrested by Dallas police as part of an investigation into child sex trafficking. He's charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, trafficking of child and compelling prostitution under 18.
The school board in Red Oak voted to suspend Caston without pay and send him a notice of proposed termination. They can't fire him immediately because he has rights as a contract employee.
School district officials say they are "moving swiftly through due process" and plan to file the appropriate actions with the Texas Education Agency and the State Board for Educator Certification.
