After The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) issued a statewide conservation warning on Monday with the summer heatwave driving up power usage, Dallas is turning off a local landmark to do its bit.

The usually vibrant Reunion Tower in Downtown Dallas will be switched off on Monday night as they look to help conserve power.

Elsewhere, Plano is planning ahead for a potential rolling blackout saying it's ready to convert the four recreation centers and most of its libraries into cooling shelters.

ERCOT says the lack of wind is a big factor in today's request. Meteorologists are expecting more wind on Tuesday, which will help with wind turbines.

Meanwhile, North Texans are also being called upon to save water as the hot dry spell continues.
