The Richardson school district is bringing back its mask mandate because of the massive surge in new COVID-19 cases.
The district reported more than 1,000 cases during the first week of January. The district reported less than 50 cases during the first week of December.
The current mask mandate will remain in effect at least until January 31st. Richardson ISD officials say they will review the COVID-19 case numbers before the end of the month to determine if it should be extended past that date.
