Water users in Rockwall are still angry about Wednesday's unplanned water shut-off.
Many people say they knew nothing about it until they woke up yesterday and turned on a tap, only to find nothing coming out.
It turns out the water company, RCH Water Supply, had issues with the heat.
A post on the company's Webpage says the water outage "was the result of extremely high outside sprinkler watering and a limited supply of water available to RCH from our purchased source. We will continue to experience water outages unless all outside sprinkler watering is dramatically reduced. We are working diligently to rectify this situation, but we need everyone's help by reducing consumption. Please conserve."
The city of Rockwall puts much of the blame on the independent town of McLendon-Chisholm. A statement from City Hall says Rockwall is "pumping 2.1 million gallons of water per day to McLendon-Chisholm, which is well over normal usage levels for a single day. However, due to excessive outdoor watering, residents’ usage levels have exceeded this amount by about 1 million gallons extra per day for the last several weeks."
The statement continues by saying "Rockwall is continuing to send water to RCH to supply the 2.1 million gallons per day, and has NOT cut off supply to RCH and its customers."
