Schools across the country have been dealing with fake threats Friday, and one of those forced a couple of schools in North Texas into lockdown.
Azle ISD says someone called in a threat, so police started searching. While Azle High School was on lockdown, a nearby elementary school and pre-K center went into "secure" status.
Police cleared the school about an hour later, and the district says it was a hoax. Meanwhile, someone posted a threat against Houston ISD on social media. They say it was the same threat made against schools across the country, but they also started searching and found no evidence. Both Houston and Azle say they take all threats seriously, and they can result in criminal charges.
The Lake Worth school district says it was also caught up in the hoax threats that have been circulating across the state and the nation. Police and the school district investigated what appeared to be a threat against a school Friday morning and determined it was false. The district does point out they take it very seriously any time a threat to schools or students is posted on social media - and get the police involved.
The district also encourages students to speak out if they see or hear something to ensure the district is safe.
