A sex assault suspect shot and killed himself as officers were preparing to arrest him in Dallas on Tuesday morning, police say.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force got word a suspect wanted for continuous sexual assault of a child was at a La Quinta on John Carpenter Freeway.
When the task force members surrounded the man's car, officers say the suspect shot himself. He was taken to the hospital but did not survive.
The Dallas Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating.
