A pop-up event at The Shops of Clearfork in Fort Worth is raising money for female-owned businesses in Ukraine. Shops at Clearfork is working with the organization, Support HerStory for the project, called "Mamas Supporting Mamas".
Support HerStory works with female-owned business owners around the world.
"Some range from brands in Africa to Ukraine to Dallas, and we have a bunch of different pop-ups," said Chief Executive Tinsley Merrill-Paul.
Merrill-Paul says 10% of sales at Shops of Clearfork pop-ups will be donated to female-owned business owners in Ukraine.
"It's a purchase with a purpose," Merrill-Paul said. "Understanding the Ukrainian flag is yellow and blue, we're doing exclusive designs this weekend where you can wear an Akola hope bracelet that's blue and yellow. We have custom designs from Corazon, blue and yellow stars. I think it's being able to remind yourself the story behind what you're wearing. In this case, that's supporting Ukrainian women."
Shops at Clearfork's Chandler Wallace says the mixed-use development had been working with Support HerStory for years, but the two worked together on this project to support Ukrainians on one of the mall's busiest weekends.
"Mothers Day weekend is always crazy-busy for us. It's also TCU graduation, so it's one of our biggest weekends of the year," Merrill-Paul said. "The Mamas Supporting Mamas piece of it is great because we've got a lot of foot traffic today and this weekend. It's going to be just a fabulous weekend to be out here."
"Mamas Supporting Mamas" continues until 6 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, and 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Shops at Clearfork.
