
Mesquite Police now say three people were arrested on Monday after a chase that started in Balch Springs and ended near 635 LBJ and Bruton Road.
A Mesquite Police Department K-9 unit that had been deployed to help with the search for the suspects was later found dead.
The incident started in Balch Springs when police got a call about a robbery near I-20 and Belt Line Road. They chased the suspects through Dallas and into Mesquite before police were able to stop the vehicle.
The suspects got out of the car and ran off into the woods before they were apprehended. A police dog named "Kozmo" was used during the foot search and was found dead after the suspects were arrested.
Mesquite Police say two of the three suspects are juveniles.
The third suspect was identified as 17-year-old Brandon Reyes. He's charged with engaging in organized criminal activity and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. Bond on those two charges totals $400,000.
Police note on his arrest report that Reyes had a dog bite on his leg when he was taken into custody.
