The Tarrant County elections administrator says some polling locations were short-staffed on election day, which may have led to lines at some polling locations.

Heider Garcia says ten Democratic poll workers and two Republicans called off.

"And so, party 'a', in most cases, is saying, 'That's okay. We'll set up their equipment, we'll give them their ballot. Everybody has to vote,'" Garcia said.

At some locations, though, Garcia says poll workers asked for additional payment. In those cases, he says the elections department pulled workers from its call center to fill in for whichever party was short-staffed.

"We don't ask whether you're Republican or Democrat. We fill the vacancy," Garcia said.

According to the Texas Secretary of State, in early voting, 108,627 people voted in either the Tarrant County Democratic or Republican primary, a turnout of 8.86%. Garcia urged people to vote Tuesday afternoon.

"Turnout's healthy. People are voting; weather's great," Garcia said.

In Dallas County, 7.6% of registered voters voted early; 9.6% voted early in Collin County; 9% voted early in Denton County.

Turnout in early voting state-wide was 9.6%.
