Tarrant County reports increase in COVID-19 cases

Tarrant County (1080 KRLD) - After weeks of decline, the COVID-19 trend appears to have bottomed out in Tarrant County for the time being.

Addressing the Tarrant County Commissioners Court this afternoon, Public Health Director Vinny Taneja says the COVID-19 trend appears to have turned a corner, and not exactly in a good way.

Taneja says there are currently 112 people hospitalized with COVID-19, for a rate of just over 2.5%. The positivity rate has also ticked up to about 3%, and the case rate is up from a low of 22 per 100,000 to 25 per 100,000.

As for the vaccines, Taneja says 32% of Tarrant County residents have at least one dose, with 27% being fully vaccinated.
