Tarrant County is working on a plan to get kids vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as it gets the green light from the FDA.

Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for kids ages 5 to 11 is one step closer to going into their arms after an FDA panel gives it the okay.

With final approval coming as early as next week, Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley is holding a conference call with school district superintendents today to begin to develop a plan to vaccinate those kids as quickly as possible.

Tarrant County Public Health Director Vinny Taneja says the county will be getting a good number of the state's initial doses.

Taneja says some school districts across the state with robust health programs did place an order for some of those doses, but he does not know of any in Tarrant County.
