Construction of a new NICU at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano will cost nearly $4 million, but it's more of a family care center than just a neonatal intensive care unit.

The expansion is designed to meet the needs of the smallest babies and their families as well. Texas Heath said the new unit was needed because of the growth in Collin County.

The new center will include 43 NICU beds, including rooms dedicated to twins and triplets, private, hotel-style rooms to accommodate families overnight, refrigerators in each room, and free movies with pillow speakers.

The new facility aims to make it a little more comfortable for families with a baby in the NICU. The expansion is expected to be finished this fall.
