The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

Theatre Coppell presents The Adventures of Tom Sawyer based on the book by Mark Twain and adapted for the stage by Robert Batson. Written in 1876, this book about a boy growing up along the Mississippi River, is one of Mark Twain’s best-loved and most quoted works. In this adaptation of a legendary tale, all of the major adventures of Tom and his friends are brought to the stage. The fun and adventure are non-stop in this unforgettable family favorite. Children can enjoy the adventure story, and adults can appreciate the satire.

DSO: The Rite of Spring

“There is music wherever there is rhythm, as there is life wherever there beats a pulse,” wrote Stravinsky in one of his sketchbooks for The Rite of Spring. This quote sums up the program for this weekend. The Earth Day Expo is an environmental expo held annually in Dallas, Texas. It has grown to be one of the largest events of its kind, with an average of 177,000 attendees, 300 exhibitors, 450 speakers, and 2,000 conferees. Although entry to the Earth Day Expo at Fair Park is free, guests should register to take advantage of an innovative experience planner. This tool lets attendees tailor their schedules and select from a range of events and experiences that align with their personal interests.

FWBG: Japanese Spring Festival

The festival includes cultural demonstrations, performances, unique shopping opportunities, and traditional foods. On both days, two Taiko drumming groups perform in the Horseshoe Garden. Master Swordsman, G.K. Sugai will perform in the Shelter House daily. There will also be demonstrations from traditional dancers from the Fort Worth Japanese Society and karate experts. FWBG: ZimSculpt

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is excited to announce its first-ever Zimbabwean sculpture exhibit, ZimSculpt, which runs April through July 2023 throughout the Garden. ZimSculpt features more than 100 exquisite sculptures by several dozen contemporary Zimbabwean artists. Known as Shona sculpture, these contemporary pieces are carved from various types of serpentine and semi-precious stone, often weighing tons, and can be as large as seven feet tall.
