Three people are in custody in Dallas County including the driver of a stolen car that led police on a long, winding chase from Dallas into Farmers Branch and then into Irving where the suspects were finally caught.
Police say this all began Thursday with a report of a carjacking in Lancaster. The thieves stole a Dodge Charger with a rather distinctive paint job that made it easy for police to spot.
Officers in Dallas tried to pull the driver over but that just initiated the chase which was going over 80 miles-an-hour on some very busy, crowded freeways and side streets.
At one point, the driver apparently believed he had given police the slip because he pulled into a WalMart parking lot and stopped the car.
But Dallas police aided by DPS troopers suddenly appeared, spooking the driver into speeding off again.
In Irving, the driver pulled into an apartment complex where the driver bailed out. But officers chased him down and hauled him away in handcuffs. Two others were also detained.
