Three kids killed in Ellis County, suspect identified

The Ellis County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect in the death investigation of three children in Italy, Texas, as Shamaiya Deyonshana Hall. She had been charged with three counts of Capital Murder as of Saturday afternoon.

Judge Dan Cox arraigned Hall and issued a $2 million bond. An investigation into the case is ongoing.

The Italy Police Department was called to a home on South Harris Street Friday afternoon and notified the Ellis County Sheriff's Office for assistance.

Texas Child Protective Services came to the 300 Block of Harris Street in Italy Friday to conduct a home visit and determined that children at the home would be removed from the residence. By 4 p.m., the caseworker called the sheriff’s department and the Italy Police Department was dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, an officer found five critically injured children Three children – a 6-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl and boy twins – were deceased. A 4-year-old and a 13-month old were found seriously wounded. One of the injured children was transported to Cooks Children’s in Fort Worth, Texas, and the other was transported to Children’s Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

"Three deceased victims were found inside the home. All victims were children. Two children were taken to local hospitals," said Ellis County Sheriff's Deputy Jerry Cozby. "A suspect has been detained in the case. We believe that there is no danger to the suspect at this time. The most important thing...our prayers for the family of those involved."

The Ellis County Sheriff's Office has not publicly identified the suspect in the case. However, neighbors tell NBC 5 they believe it was the children's mother.
