First day of trial wraps up for Yaser Abdel Said, father accused in 2008 murders of his daughters

After it took just one day to seat a jury, the trial began today in Dallas County where a father is accused of murdering his own daughters in Irving nearly 15 years ago.

It was a sad New Year's Day in 2008 when the teenage sisters, both students at Lewisville High School, were found shot to death in their father's taxi parked at a hotel in Las Colinas.

Their father, Yaser Abdel Said was the immediate suspect but he had already dropped out of sight and remained in hiding until two years ago.

While Said was jailed, his son and brother were accused of harboring a fugitive and they're still in prison.

Today, the jury will begin hearing opening statements in Said's capital murder trial. The girls were teens when they were murdered. Today, they'd both be in their mid-30s.
