In Dallas County, a murder trial has begun for a man who is accused of killing his girlfriend, before getting into a police chase that resulted in him being shot.
Court records show 60-year-old Jerry Ford had a violent history with 40-year-old, Nicole McChriston, having been arrested once before for attacking her with a machete.
In this trial, Ford is accused of going further and stabbing McChriston to death on September 4, 2020. Police say it happened in northeast Dallas. They say it was Ford who called 911 to report the stabbing. Police spotted Ford in the area and then got into a chase that ended a short distance later when Ford crashed his car into a house. Police shot and wounded Ford at the scene.
Jury selection is underway today. Testimony begins tomorrow.
