The murder trial of a man accused of killing a transgender woman and dumping her body in White Rock Lake is underway in Dallas County Court.
The state says the case is not about the murder of a transgendered person - it's about a brutal crime. The victim, who changed her name to Chynal Lindsey, was killed on June first and her body dumped on the west side of White Rock Lake. She had been beaten and strangled.

The body was found by Calvin Torrence just as his two young kids were about to go wading.
Prosecutors say 24-year old Ruben Alvarado killed Chynal Lindsey and threw her body into the lake. They say cell phone records and blood in Alvarado's car will show he beat and strangled Lindsey and disposed of the body.
