A man from Trophy Club has pleaded guilty to a charge of parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. Kerry Wayne Persick will be sentenced July 14 before Chief DC District Federal Judge Beryl Howell.

Persick admitted he entered the Capitol through a Senate Wing door.

According to the plea agreement, Persick traveled to Washington by plane to protest Congress’ certification of the Electoral College.  On January 6, Persick attended the “Stop the Steal” rally held by President Trump, the marched with other protestors to the Capitol.

“At about 2:11 p.m., EST, (Persick) was on restricted grounds on the Capitol as part of the mob that had gathered outside the Senate Wing Door.” The document says.  “Once there, (Persick) enered the Capitol through the Senate wing Door with others as other rioters entered the Senate through the broken Senate Wing Windows on the right and left.”

Persick admitted he was in the Capitol for 18 minutes, using his cell phone to record other rioters inside the breached Capitol, the document says.  Persick then “paraded through the Capitol, including the Rotunda, the Crypt and restricted corridors.  “At about 2:39 p.m., EST, defendant exited the Capitol through a broken Senate Wing Window as directed by law enforcement officers as other officers attempted to secure the Senate Wing Door and prevent rioters from entering through the broken Senate Wing Window.”

In a different courtroom, Federal Judge Florence Y. Pan sentenced Thomas Paul Conover, Keller, to 36 months on probation.  Conover had pleaded guilty in January to a charge of parading through the Capitol.
