An east Dallas stretch of I-30 is reopened after being closed for most of Sunday afternoon and evening because of a big rig crash that left a mess of metal across west-bound lanes near Fair Park.

Reports say a flat bed 18-wheeler hauling a load of rolled sheet metal and at least two other vehicles collided near Carroll Avenue, leaving the sheet metal rolls scattered across all lanes and the shoulders.

There was no way for any traffic to get by and the backup frustrated drivers for hours. Two lanes were reopened by late afternoon and the rest were cleared Sunday evening.

Dallas County Sheriff's investigators have not said what caused the crash.
