“This event is to assist candidates through our hiring process to get them into our ready pool of new hires and help them navigate the federal hiring process. New officers will receive extensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and they will be paid during this training," DFW Airport TSA Federal Security Director Kriste Jordan Smith wrote in a statement.

Smith says no previous law enforcement experience is necessary.

TSA urges people to plan on spending three to four hours at the event. People can see presentations about the role of transportation security officers, begin the application process, go through testing and have an in-person interview.

During the presentation, TSA says it will provide information about benefits, paid leave, health plans and retirement plans.

TSA says starting pay at DFW Airport and Love Field is $17.47 per hour, a five percent increase after six months and a $4,500 annual increase. TSA is also offering a sign-on bonus of $1,000.
